Hope something works out for you both, If I had an extra bike or camping gear I would let you have it!! Eugene is a bike friendly enviroment, but this incident gives Eugene a Blackeye

Oh that sux about your bike. I'm here in Portland Oregon & I'll keep an eye out for it. Best wishes to you on the rest of your trip! I really wish that you didn't have that to remember Oregon by. It really is a nice place.

Sorry to hear about your loss. If you need a bike to complete your trip, I have a spare Cannondale mountain bike (in Portland) that you may use to get you to San Francisco. Now if we can get someone to get you a tent and trailer. Just email me and we can work out the details.
