Reloading
Today we're sitting in a cafe in Eugene, strategizing our next moves. Now that the camping gear is gone and we're down to one bike, we're trying to figure out where we can go from here.
We're healthy and in good spirits, all things considered. The family that hosted us last night, the Adkins, were wonderful to us and that's certainly helped out. We'll find a way to make this work out for the best.
Right now Melissa's giving the police an itemized list of what was in the trailer, after I gave them a run-down on the bike itself. Hopefully they can help us out. One way or another, we'll keep going on this crazy trip.

This is about the worst thing that could happen. But you will persevere, and be stronger for your efforts.
hi guys, sorry to hear of your troubles. i emailed the Center For Appropriate transportation (CAT)in Eugene to see if they can help obtain a bike for Melissa. They should have the resources to come up with something. good luck! your new friend, Jonathan
Dear Andrew & Melissa,
Saw you on the news tonight relative to your bike theft, Melissa, in Eugene. So sorry, this is not the way we like Oregon to be. Do you have insurance to cover some of your loss? I am the bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America here in Oregon and also a bicycle enthusiast (and also on the Oregon State Global Warming Commission.) We Lutherans would like to help you out. I'm not sure how, $$$ for equipment or whatever, but if things aren't getting put back together for you easily please drop me a line. We'll figure something out ASAP.

I'm very sad to hear about your misfortune. After reading such an inspiring story about your journey this far only to have someone try to spoil it for you. I'm sure the kind people here in the northwest will help you out and get you back on your way. Congrats in advance on your wedding plans!
